Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information ShopSEO: Image Optimizer collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what is needed to run the service and to handle it with care.

Who we are

ShopSEO: Image Optimizer is a Shopify app focused on optimizing product images and alt text. It is operated by the developer or business listed with the app installation. This policy applies to the app and its associated website. It does not cover Shopify itself or any third-party service that we do not control.

Information we collect

Shopify session and account information. When you install or use the app, Shopify provides the session data needed to authenticate your store, such as your shop domain, access token, session state, scope, user identifier, locale, and related account details that Shopify makes available to the app.

Store content the app processes. To optimize images, we access product and media data through Shopify’s APIs. That data can include product titles, product IDs, image IDs, image URLs, filenames, file sizes, dimensions, and alt text. We also read and write the image metadata needed to replace files and update alt text.

Optimization history. We store records of optimization runs and per-image results so the app can resume work safely, skip images that were already processed, and show you what happened. Those records include the shop, status, timestamps, progress counts, bytes saved, quality settings, resource IDs, media IDs, and error messages when a run fails.

Information you send us. If you contact us for support or feedback, we receive the information you choose to share in that message.

Technical data. Like most hosted apps, our server may process standard request and diagnostic information such as IP address, user agent, request timing, and log entries needed to keep the service secure and reliable.

How we use information

  • To authenticate your Shopify store and operate the app;
  • To find image opportunities, optimize files, and update alt text;
  • To record progress, resume interrupted runs, and avoid duplicate work;
  • To show optimization history and results inside the app;
  • To respond to support requests and troubleshoot problems;
  • To monitor security, diagnose errors, and improve reliability;
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not use your store content for advertising, and we do not train unrelated products on that content.

Your store’s customers

The app is designed to work with your catalog and site structure, not with your shoppers’ personal profiles. We do not intentionally collect customer names, addresses, order details, or payment data.

How we share information

We share information only when needed to run the service. That may include trusted service providers that help with hosting, storage, authentication, or error handling; Shopify, when required by the app or by Shopify’s platform rules; and law enforcement or other parties when we are legally required to do so or need to protect the rights, safety, and property of users or the public.

Shopify

The app depends on Shopify APIs and Shopify’s embedded app platform. Shopify may process some information under its own privacy policy and terms. Your use of Shopify is governed by Shopify’s policies, not ours.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics SDKs in the app code. Shopify and your browser may still use essential cookies or other storage needed for authentication and embedded-app functionality.

Data retention

We keep Shopify session records only as long as they are needed to authenticate and operate the app. When you uninstall the app, our webhook deletes the stored session records for your shop. We keep image optimization history and run records as needed to preserve processing history, avoid reprocessing the same images, and support the app’s resume behavior.

Data security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the service protected.

International data transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than the one where you are located. Where required, we take steps intended to provide appropriate protection for those transfers.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, object to, or restrict certain uses of your personal information. To exercise those rights, contact us using the support details provided with the app. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children’s privacy

The app is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the policy date and provide additional notice where appropriate.
